Genre: Fantasy, Romance.
Synopsis: Hong Kong director Dante Lam’s inventive fantasy-romance TIRAMISU offers an unconventional love story that’s as sweetly satisfying as the dessert for which it’s named. Nicholas Tse (A MAN CALLED HERO) and Karena Lam (JULY RHAPSODY) costar as doomed lovers Fung and Jane, a deaf delivery boy and an ambitious dance student who meet and fall in love all on the same day. Though the fledgling romance is seemingly ended before it’s begun when Jane is killed in a bus accident, an afterlife loophole allows her to return to earth as a ghost living within Fung’s body, curing his deafness. Now it’s up to Fung to decide whether he wants to remain in this life or join his lover in death, even as demonic spirits arrive to lure Jane back to the underworld. Unfolding like a Cantonese version of GHOST, Lam’s achingly lovely meditation on the twin forces of love and death sustains its melancholy atmosphere with moody, fantasy-laden imagery and the charismatic performances of its two leads. Nicholas Tse, Kar Yan Lam, Eason Chan, Candy Lo
