Synopsis: “”The wrath of Heaven is coming!”” Set in 1808 during the Joseon Dynasty, Blood Rain takes place on a small island with a technologically-advanced (for its time) paper mill. With climate and trees perfectly suited for paper-making — and a location remote enough to ensure both privacy and secrecy — the island has established a bustling village and a profitable business in high-quality paper, with trade routes stretching as far away as China. But soon on this isolated and largely self-autonomous island, a string of gruesome murders take place. Murders attract enough attention from the mainland for it to send one of their government men, Lee Won-gyu, to the island to investigate murders. It’s not the growing number of dead bodies that worries Lee Won-gyu. It’s how these victims were killed. The method of these killings is brutal, inhumane and sickly innovative. Lee Won-gyu realises that the murderer is cunning and clever, and that he’s not stopping his killing spree soon. Investigator Lee Won-gyu also eventually discovers that the murders are linked., which makes the villagers convinced that a ghost has returned for revenge.
