in 1624 imperial japan shogunate general hidetada has died under mysterious circumstances. it is soon revealed that the general was prisoned because he did not want his eldest son to be heir because he is disfigured and suffers from a stammer. a war between the eldest son and his younger brother soon erupts and a group of up and coming shogun warriors is caled into action each taking respective sides. this is all being controlled by the yagyu famliy a group of shougun who have trained the generals family in fenicing and swordsmanship. as well as this another group imperial nobles is trying to use the fledging shogun warriors to weaken the power of the shogunate and restore actual power to the emperor.
